Pixel Migration / Score Book
Pixel Migration began as a series of paintings made with hand-cut A4 paper stencils. Paint was pressed through small pixel-like openings onto canvas, turning a digital-looking structure into a physical, unstable and manual process.
The stencils were first used simply as tools for making paintings. Only later did their reverse sides become important: after repeated use, they carried traces of pressure, paint, drips, residues and accidental marks. What had started as a technical support gradually became an autonomous image material.
This project brings together paintings made through the stencil system — including works such as Pixel Zucht and Bildschirm — with the later wall installation of used stencil sheets and the Score Book. The book was produced by scanning this material and arranging it as a sequence, somewhere between painting, print, archive and musical score.
The same matrix moves through several states: tool, painting, residue, wall, scan and book. The pixel is no longer a clean digital unit, but a physical trace shaped by repetition, pressure, error and material memory.
